Meet The Doctors

Education: National College of Chiropractic, Oakland University

Associations & Memberships: Michigan Association of Chiropractors, Grosse Pointe Chamber of Commerce, and BNI Pipeline.

Dr. Gary Shoemaker founded Clairpointe Family Chiropractic in 1988 in Detroit and has been operating it on a full-time basis in Grosse Pointe Farms since 2014. He graduated from the National College of Chiropractic in 1981 with a Doctorate in Chiropractic, a Bachelor of Science degree, and certifications in nutrition, exercise physiology, and spinal disc decompression. After graduation, Dr. Shoemaker trained for his first six years in private practice with an experienced chiropractor in Utica, Michigan, learning the finer points of patient care and health management. Dr. Shoemaker's focus is on helping people achieve their best health through regular chiropractic care. Dr. Shoemaker and his wife, Lori, have two adult daughters and reside in St. Clair Shores, Michigan.

Education:  Palmer College of Chiropractic, Saginaw Valley State University.

Dr. Nathan Blackwell joined the Clairpointe team in January 2022. He attended Palmer Chiropractic College, assisting patients of all ages to recover and rehabilitate their spinal health, allowing them to return to their favorite activities and continue to live fulfilling lives. His professional goals are to improve our patients' physical health in a positive, uplifting manner. He is a lifelong Michigan resident, played baseball at Saginaw Valley State, and continues to promote a healthy lifestyle through exercise, diet, and regular chiropractic care. Dr. Nathan graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 2021. He is looking forward to being an asset to our chiropractic community and adding valuable information to our corrective, wellness, and health-focused practices. We are extremely excited to have him as part of our team!

Meet the Team

Sarah spent the first 15 years with Clairpointe Family Chiropractic as part of our corrective and wellness team. Her role as a Massage Therapist working hand and hand with Dr. Shoemaker to help our patients realize their natural healing power. In 2019, she transitioned to the position of Marketing and Social Media Director to share the benefits of chiropractic with the community. She continues to inform and educate our patients and the community with better solutions to improve the quality of their lives.

Kelli joined the Clairpointe team in April 2018. Kelli has a degree in applied business management and multiple certificates in insurance billing & coding. Kelli oversees all patient and insurance financial matters.

Lillian joined the Clairpointe team in February 2025 and quickly became a valued member. Growing up in Grosse Pointe, she earned a degree in Communications from Saginaw Valley State University. In her free time, Lillian is passionate about musical theater and enjoys singing. We are thrilled to have her as part of our Clairpointe family and are delighted to have her on our team.
