FAQs

What conditions do chiropractors treat?

A licensed chiropractor can treat most any health condition that is caused by a spinal misalignment or vertebral subluxation that creates nerve pressure.

What is a chiropractic adjustment, and are they safe?

A chiropractic spinal adjustment is a manual procedure that realigns the spine, thereby removing nerve pressure and restoring your body’s natural innate healing power.

What makes the sound during the adjustment?

The “popping noise” with some chiropractic spinal adjustments is merely air releasing from a subluxated joint as it is being realigned.

What is subluxation?

A vertebral subluxation is a misalignment of one or more vertebra that is causing nerve interference, thereby weakening the body.

How do I get a subluxation?

Four things cause vertebral subluxations:

  • Heredity
  • Habits
  • Accidents
  • Even Stress

Will I get adjusted on the first day?

It takes time to properly diagnose your subluxation patterns to create a customized treatment plan to resolve your conditions. On your first visit as a new patient, we will perform a chiropractic evaluation, take the necessary x-rays, and provide you with instructions for at-home first aid relief for any acute symptoms.

On day two, we will discuss in detail the root cause of your condition and present a treatment plan for your recovery. If you choose to move forward with your treatment plan, then you will be adjusted that day.

Do you take me insurance?

Many insurance plans offer some chiropractic care coverage, and our staff will verify those coverages for you.

What if my policy doesn’t cover chiropractic?

In the event that you do not have insurance coverage, we do offer a variety of payment plans to fit into your budget.

Do you take walk-ins?

To provide the best chiropractic care available, our appointment schedule is extremely important. However, we are able to offer same-day appointments in most cases. Please call the office at (313) 886-8030 to check availability.

Why do I need to take X-rays, and are they safe?

To see is to know, and to not see is to guess, and we don’t guess. We require x-rays on all patients unless they are pregnant, are a small child, or have a health condition that prevents it. Our facility uses only digital x-rays, which gives the best information in the safest way possible.

How much time will my appointment take?

The first two visits to our office are the most important, and each takes about 45 minutes. The first is to analyze your subluxation patterns, and the second is to cover all the details with you and present a customized solution to restore your health. Your regular chiropractic adjustments are less than 15 minutes and are offered five days a week.

Can I see a chiropractor if I'm pregnant?

In pregnancy, the changes your body goes through creates subluxation patterns that respond extremely well to chiropractic adjustments. While we do not use X-rays for our pregnant patients, we have other proven ways to analyze your spine and provide you with the best care possible.

Is it appropriate to adjust children and infants?

Yes, in fact, research shows that the first time a spine should be checked is the day a baby is born. Children and infants go through more traumas than adults, so they should also be under regular chiropractic care.
